Biography

Capt J.L. White CD 

 

Captain White was born and raised in Ponoka, Alberta. He enrolled in the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry and served in various locations in Canada and Germany. Capt White retired from the Regular Force in 1990. Shortly after his retirement, Captain White volunteered with 1390 RCA Cadet Corps. In September of the year he enrolled in the Cadet Instructor's Cadre and assumed the position of Commanding Officer of this unit for approximately 14 months. During the summer of 1991, Captain White was employed at the Vernon Army Cadet Camp as a company second in command. Captain White was selcted by Senior Staff Officer cadets in Air Command Headquarters as a Special Projects Officer to promote the expansion of native participation in the Cadet movement. This involved promoting the cadet programme to influntential native leaders and students in their communities. Upon the reorganization of RCIS (Prairie) in 1992, Captain White was hired as a full-time instructor with the school. Over the years Captain White has been invloved with youth sports as a coach in minor hockey, baseball, soccer and cross-country skiing. Captain White is married to the former Vera McNutt, they have two suns and a daughter.
