Biography

Capt  L.J. (Beth) MacFarlane

 

 

Beth was born in Saint John , NB and was raised in various parts of New Brunswick and Ontario .  In 1962, her family moved to Woodstock , NB where she met and married Robert MacFarlane in 1965.

 In 1967, Beth joined 89th Fd Bty as an Admin Clerk and stayed until 1974 when she decided to leave to spend more time with her family.

 In 1983, she began helping out 318 RCACC with administrative duties and subsequently joined as the Admin Officer.  She completed the BOQ, LTQ and Capt. Qual. Courses over the next few years.  Beth became Commanding Officer of 318 RCACC in July of 1984 and remained in that position until 1987.  She also qualified as a Range Safety Officer and was a volunteer instructor with 3 Fd Regt.  She was PMC of the Mess for several years.

 Beth transferred to the Sup Reserve List I 1987 and from there to 3 Fd Regt where she became the Finance Officer.  Because of work commitments, she retired after a few years.

 In February of 2003, Beth was awarded the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal for her work with veterans.  She is President of Woodstock Unit #95 of the Army, Navy & Air Force Veterans in Canada (ANAVETS).  Beth and Robert have two sons and three grandchildren.
