20 West Kent School C.C. flocked shoulder flash (WWII)

History - This Corps was originally formed 1 Sep 04 as 20 West Kent Street School. Minutes of the P.E.I. Strathcona Trust Fund for 1943 and 1944 reveal that West Kent School Cadet Corps, #148 Queen Square School Cadet Corps, and the Prince of Wales Cadet Corps were disbanded in 1943 and the cadets were amalgamated into an Open corps known as the 1993 Charlottetown Army Cadet Corps effective 28 Nov 1943. Official disbandment date of #20 is listed as 6 Mar 1944. This arrangement lasted until the 1946 annual inspection, and the corps disbanded effective 30 June 1947. Both West Kent and Queen Square were re-established as separate Cadet Corps.

Corps wore the WWII era shoulder flash "20 West Kent School C.C."

The Corps re-established 13 Nov 1947 under sponsorship of the West Kent School and was affiliated with 5th Division Signal Regiment RC Sig. In May 1950 the affiliation was assumed by 5th Signal Regiment, RC Sigs. In Nov 1954 authority was requested to relocate No. 20 to Queen Charlotte High School as a new schooling system was being established. The Corps then became known as Queen Charlotte High School Cadet Corps and kept the same affiliation. With the re-organization of the militia and 5th Signal Regiment being put on the S.O.B. list the affiliation was changed to 721 Comm Regt. In Mar 1973 with the re-organization of the school system in the area, sponsorship was assumed by the Regional Administrative School Unit. Eff 21 Dec 1994 designation changed from 20 Queen Charlotte High School Cadet Corps to 20 Murray Harbour Army Cadet Corps. Sponsor changed to Village of Murray Harbour. Relocated from Charlottetown to Murray Harbour eff 1 Sept 1994 (D Cdts Adm 845). Eff 19 Jul 1999 this corps was disbanded (D Cdts Adm 331). H.Q. 12-90-1

Corps reformed 12 Nov 2012
