History -   

The Corps was formed on 28 October 1913 (MO 538/13). B Coy was formed 23 April 1921 (MO 239/21). The Corps was affiliated with 27th Light Horse until 15 March 1920, when it became affiliated with 14th Canadian Light Horse. The subsequent re organization of the Militia saw the Corps affiliated with 14th Canadian Hussars in August 1940; 8th (R) Reconnaissance Regiment (14th Canadian Hussars) in June 1947, 14th Canadian Hussars (8th Armoured Car Regt) in March of 1949, and 14th Canadian Hussars (8th Armoured Regt) on 1 January 1955.

Maple Creek High School Cadet Corps was formed 28 Nov 1913. It was sponsored by the Maple Creek School Board and affiliated with the 14th Canadian Hussars. It disbanded 31 Aug 62. 14th Recce Sqn. Cadet Corps 
The Corps reformed 1 Apr 75 as Maple Creek Legion Cadet Corps. It was sponsored by the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 75 and affiliated with the Sask Dragoons. In 1977 affiliation changed to South Alberta Light Horse. In the 1977 annual inspection report the Corps was placed on probation until 31 Dec 77 at which time probation was removed. In 1980 it was again placed on probation due to a loss of cadets and changes of staff until 31 Oct 80. In the 198l annual report the Corps remained on probation. Probation was removed sometime 81/82 trg yr. Eff 30 Sep 96 corps was disbanded (D Cdts Adm 769). Upon re activation of the Corps as of 1 April 1975 it was affiliated with The Saskatchewan Dragoons. Affiliation was changed to The South Alberta Light Horse effective 21 October 1977. The Corps is sponsored by Branch 75 Royal Canadian Legion. The Corps was disbanded effective September 30, 1996
