Biography

COLONEL C.M Fletcher, CD

Director Cadets 2007-

   

Col Fletcher attended RRMC and RMC from 1975 to 1979 graduating with a degree in Honours English.

His first tour of duty was with 12e Régiment Blindé du Canada in Valcartier as a troop leader in reconnaissance and Cougars. In 1983, on promotion to Capt he attended technical staff training at the Royal Armoured Corps Centre, Bovington, UK. From the UK he was posted to The Royal Canadian Dragoons in Lahr, West Germany as Battle Captain. On return to Canada in 1986, he occupied the post of SO2 Armoured Equipment, Mobile Command HQ.

In 1989 he was assigned as Adjutant, The Royal Canadian Dragoons in Petawawa immediately followed by promotion to Major in 1990 and assignment as Aide de Camp to the Chief of the Defence Staff during the year of the Gulf War and the Oka crisis.

From 1991-93 he commanded a sabre squadron with Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadians) in Calgary and subsequently attended CF Command and Staff College. Following two years in the Force Development staff at NDHQ from 1994-1996, he became the Chief of Staff of NB PEI Militia District and led it through the reorganization to brigade status.

In 1998 Col Fletcher assumed command of the Armour School at Gagetown, NB, moving on Chief of Staff Combat Training Centre in June 2000 and subsequently 3 Area Support Group in Apr 2001.

On promotion to Colonel in July 2001 he assumed the appointment of Director Military Gender Integration and Employment Equity at NDHQ. In May 2006, he was appointed Director Reserves.
