Biography

Mr. Ed Liukaitis  

Born in Edmonton, Alberta in 1962, Ed was educated in Calgary (Southern Institute of Technology) with studies in Architectural Drafting, Geographical Information Systems and Municipal Design. He is a Mechanical Designer in the oil and gas industry and has been employed with ARAM Systems Ltd. (formally Geo-X Systems Ltd.) for the past 22 years. Married to Jeanette for 18 years, a daughter Kaitlyn and son Thomas.  

He entered the CCM in 1976 with 1955 C-Pro-C RCACC and transferred shortly afterwards to 2554 PPCLI RCACC to follow his interest with their band program. From 1981 to 1983 he became a Civilian Instructor for 2554 PPCLI’s band. After taking a three year break he returned to the CCM again as a CI with 1955 Service Battalion RCACC as their band instructor until 1990.  

In 1997 he became an Army Cadet League of Canada (Alberta Branch) Southern Zone member. He volunteered for the position of Camp Howard Liaison – Booking Officer until 2000. From there he moved to become the League Representative for 2554 PPCLI until 2006. In 2002 he became the Vice Chairman of the Southern Zone. From 2004 to 2007 Ed continued his volunteer work with the League as Southern Zone Chairman.  

Recipient of The Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal and the Army Cadet League of Canada Member of the Year for 2004.  

He is actively involved as a director with the VACC Alumni Association since 1995. Ed is also a member with the Canadian Society of Exploration Geophysicists since 2000, Society of Manufacturing Engineers and a 264 RC Legion Member since 1981.

Interested in continuing to make a difference, Ed was elected as President of the Army Cadet League of Canada (Alberta Branch) March 2007.
