#391-409

Mystery #391 - From the Fort Erie Ontario area, Artillery cadets, approx 1979-81, any names? any details? (Fort Erie Historical Museum)

Mystery #392 - This great 1954 photo is a bit of a twist. Supplied by Adolphe Wenger, it shows Adolphe on the left in Vancouver in 1954 with two unknown cadets, that is the mystery. He would like to reconnect with the the two of these fellows. All three of them were attending the reward camp at Banff that summer. They were sent to Chilliwack for a few days as part of the Guard of Honour for His Royal Highness, the Duke of Edinburgh who was in Vancouver to open the British Empire Games. The photo will seem familiar to anyone over the age of 50 as it was from professional street photographer, the type that worked in all the major centres across Canada from the 1940s to late 1950s. To contact Adolphe, please email him at awwt@sympatico.ca

Mystery #393 - Okay, this one is very special. Here's the request we received -

I hope that you can help me. My Grandfather, William Malcolm Morrison, was a cadet (see photo) in St John N.B., the attached picture was taken in June 1903 when Bill was 15 years old. Is there any chance that you can tell me what unit he was in so that I can research it? If not, can you add this photo to your mystery file? Thanks for your time, Don Cameron doncam@shaw.ca

This may take a while but I know there are some very knowledgeable members amongst the lot.  A few clues. the tartan, despite being a sepia tone there's enough detail to make a pretty good guess. The hat badge is a bit of challenge. Saint John, NB was town with a tremendous amount of cadet corps over the years, however in 1903 there were only two cadet corps: #31 St. John Grammar School Cadet Corps; #84 St. Paul's Church Cadet Corps. A very nice uniform, snake belt, he appears to be holding a drill stick or officer's whip, clearly a senior cadet.

This is very interesting and exciting. Let's see what we can do folks.

either 1953 or 1954 Thanks to Archie Stacey
