Mystery #455 - 1956 Irish Fusiliers Cadet Corps, year?

D & M room Stanley Park Armoury Thanks to BGen (ret'd) Darrell Dean

Mystery #456 - 1956 Irish Fusiliers Cadet Corps, likely wartime or immediate post-war due to wedges

Stanley Park Armoury basement training room.  Sand table model to teach basic map reading and also used for tactical training on the layout of the AA guns.  This was located in a room where at 12 years of age I learned to strip a PIAT anti tank gun.  Outside this room there was a hallway where we used to practice on dummies doing bayonet drills.  Those were to good old days of cadets. Thanks to BGen (ret'd) Darrell Dean

Mystery #457 -

signals room.  No caubeens so likely late 40's or very early 50.  Thanks to BGen (ret'd) Darrell Dean

Mystery #458 - 1771 City of Vancouver Tweedsmuir Cadet Corps, familiarization with the Bren Gun, possibly a veterans guard or CS of C captain with WWI ribbon bar and Efficiency Decoration of George V Silver Jubilee Medal, 1935, unknown armlet on right arm. Almost certainly 1941-44 as the corps only existed during this period.

Tweedsmur cadets likely sponsored by former member of the Vancouver Regiment.  Thanks to BGen (ret'd) Darrell Dean

Mystery #459 - same as above 1771 City of Vancouver Tweedsmuir Cadet Corps, 40mm Bofors gun? Which armoury? Irish Fusliers?

An interesting picture taken in SPA.  Note the putties on one cadet [must have been a senior NCO and anklets on the other who must have been a fusilier because that was the dress regulation at the time.  Thanks to BGen (ret'd) Darrell Dean

Mystery #460 - 1956 Irish Fusiliers Cadet Corps, unknown parade, year?

Most likely the PNE parade.  The Irish always participated and I think this would have been around 1951-52. Thanks to BGen (ret'd) Darrell Dean

Mystery #461 - 1947, possibly 1956 Irish Fusiliers Cadet Corps, Blair Range?

Bowen Island or Blair?

Mystery #462 - 1771 City of Vancouver Tweedsmuir Cadet Corps, armoury?

Stanley Park Armoury, please note the balcony for viewing on the second level. Thanks to BGen (ret'd) Darrell Dean

Mystery #463 - 1771 City of Vancouver Tweedsmuir Cadet Corps, if this is Irish armoury, could #1956 Irish Fusiliers have also worn City of Vancouver shoulder flash?

Another interesting picture. This is mid to late 40's. Look at the bayonets. In 1953 when I joined we were using the spike bayonet. Thanks to BGen (ret'd) Darrell Dean

Mystery #464 - possibly taken same time as photo 458, C/Lieutenant looks to be the same fellow

Also an interesting picture.  The corporal is wearing a white lanyard denoting artillery and we had been converted to AA. Thanks to BGen (ret'd) Darrell Dean

Mystery #465 - cadet canteen, Irish Armoury? Possibly mix of cadets and militia soldiers as Sgt behind counter is clearly older, CANADA accoutrements on tunics (see detail photo below)

Stanley Park Armoury cadet canteen second floor.  there was a kitchen beside this canteen where the tea was made for the mid parade break.  The tea was made by cadets on defaulters.  I was told that the officers tea had generous helpings of sergeant-major's soap shavings added to it. Thanks to BGen (ret'd) Darrell Dean

Mystery #467 -  Stanley Park Armoury, D&M room, drivable jeep.

Mystery #468 - Very unusual series of photos through #473, not sure what to make of it. Staged event, cadets in Military police scenario, Cadet Police armband? 1950 dated from license plate

Stanley Park Armoury, annual inspection and demonstration of searching for terrorists, likely based on the IRA scenario. Thanks to BGen (ret'd) Darrell Dean
