1937 Airport pre construction of camp

We are always looking for the missing photos, early 1950s and some of the 60s. Please let us know if you can help email

Despite the runway layout, looking SW, the gravel road to the left which curves south will eventually become highway 97.  The road to the right is Mission road which passes directly in front of the former K & D lines and now the upper tent city. The crossing point of the two runways is effectively where H10 is located today. Militia camps were held east of highway 97 as a tented area for a brief two weeks every June. In just a few years, war will break out in Europe and construction will begin on the barracks.
