Arrival of the reviewing officer. In what was considered a very honourable gesture, Mr Wayne Emde in his 25th year as the training centre's PIO (Public Information Officer) was invited to be D Coy's reviewing officer. Mr Emde first in 1982 arrived at Vernon to take over the last 2 weeks of position of PIO and returned every year since. He has served nine different Commanding Officers from LCol Don Ardellian to the current CO, LCol Al Dengis. His 900+ platoon & course photos grace walls and photos albums around the world. It's estimated he has taken well over 70,000 photos and written in excess 3000 home-towners in those years. Also interesting is that in 1983 he replaced the then retiring Maj Cam Leblond who himself spent 30 years as the training centre's PIO from 1952-82. A remarkable achievement unmatched by any training centre army, air or sea across Canada. (VACSTC, F. Arseneault)
