Certificate of appreciation - Camp Services, Tim Lennox accepting : In recognition of the dedication to duty, hard work and can do attitude of the staff at Camp Services . This team works quietly behind the scene and the list of their duties is long and includes but is not restricted to:  opening the camp by opening up the buildings, setting up and maintaining the tent classrooms.  This year they rebuilt the air rifle ranges.  They are responsible for maintaining the camp grounds and providing us with all of the colourful planters and gardens that you see.  They handle all labour projects such as repairs to buildings and building projects. They are the first to arrive for all events that require spectator seating and special equipment set up and they are the last to leave after clean up. He took on additional responsibilities and through long hours and much effort, managed to deep the training program running successfully. This day in Canadian Military History...

17 August 1917
Fighting continues around Hill 70, which the Canadians captured 2 days ago. The troops are kept busy fighting off repeated German counter-attacks, which have been ongoing since the capture of the high ground.



17 August 1940
No 1 Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Force, becomes operational in Britain. It will still be another week before the airmen are launched into action, but their presence in the latter stages of the Battle of Britain is a welcome one.
