This day in Canadian Military History...

7 July 1942
At 6:15 this morning, four German fighter aircraft attack troopships lying off the Isle of Wight. The vessels carry soldiers from the 2nd Canadian Division, along with support units, bound for the French port of Dieppe. The enemy attack is limited but the Canadian raid is now in the open. As a result, the mission is cancelled and rescheduled for mid-August.
