Biography

LCol Fern R. Daigneault, CD

 
Colonel Daigneault started his military career in the Royal Canadian Army Cadets parading with the Corps located in Pont Viau, Quebec from 1956 to 1960. In August 1960, he enrolled in the Regular Force. Throughout his thirty-four years of senice, Colonel Daigneault has served in numerous staff and command positions. From 1963 to 1965, he participated in United Nations Peace keeping duties in the Middle East with 56 Canadian Signals Squadron. Commissioned in 1966, he was reassigned to the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps and was employed on logistics duties until his retirement in April 1994. Colonel Daigneault had completed instructional duties at the Ordinance School, which was located at Montreal and at the Canadian Forces School of Administration and Logistics, Camp Borden Ontario. Promoted to major in 1974, he was appointed commanding officer of the Parachute Maintenance Depot, Edmonton. Subsequently, he was employed as the Base Supply Officer at CFB Montreal and on staff at Headquarters Canadian Forces Europe and Canadian Forces Training Systems Headquarters, Trenton. Prior to his retirement from the Regular Force, Colonel Daigneault was employed as the Officer Commanding Aerial Delivery Training Company, Canadian Airborne Centre.

Colonel Daigneault went on to serve in the Primary Reserve (Militia) as the Chief Instructor at Dundurn Saskatchewan, and as the Deputy  Commanding Officer of the British Columbia Dragoons, Kelowna. From June to August 1997, he commanded a Cadet Leader Instructor Company at Vernon Army Cadet Summer Training Centre, Vernon. In April 1998, he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and appointed Commanding Officer of the Vernon Cadet Camp.

Colonel Daigneault enjoys woodworking, fishing, and his involvement with the Canadian Wildlife Association.
