CWO Al Willams CD
CWO Al Williams was born and raised in Lillooet BC, graduating from Lillooet Senior Secondary in 1969. In September of that year he enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces as a Finance Clerk.
Upon completion of basic training at CFB Cornwallis Nova Scotia and occupational training at CFB Borden, Ontario, he was posted to CFB Esquimalt in 1970. His next posting was to CFS Baldy Hughes near Prince George BC in 1972.
In 1974 he was posted to CFB London (Ontario), attached to the Royal Canadian Regiment, which included a United Nations Tour in Cyprus. While in London he met Diana and they were married in 1976. He was promoted to Sgt in 1977 and posted to a NATO tour at CFB Lahr Germany
On return from Germany he was posted to the Canadian Forces School of Administration and Logistics where he instructed at Officer Training Company. He was promoted to WO in 1984 and transferred to 7 Canadian Forces Supply Depot at Edmonton Alberta. In 1985 he was posted to CFB Edmonton as the Audit Supervisor.
In 1986 he packed up his family (Diana, Austin and Andrea) and headed north to the Northern Region Headquarters in Yellowknife, NWT as the Finance Officer. He was also the Ground Search Team Leader during his 3 year tour.
In 1989 he was posted to CFB Chilliwack as the Base Internal Audit Officer, promoted to MWO in 1990 and assumed the duties of Branch MWO and Base Financial Counsellor.
He was promoted to CWO in 1993 and posted to National Defense Headquarters in Ottawa, Ontario on a special project to conduct an Occupational Analysis of the Finance Occupation.
In 1994 he was posted back CFB Chilliwack as the Pay Accounting Officer. During this tenure he also served 6 months as the Base Chief Warrant Officer.
In 1996 he was posted to Maritime Pacific Headquarters at Victoria, BC where he served as the Senior Pay Writer and West Coast Finance Clerk Career Advisor.
He retired from the Regular Force in May of 1998 and was recruited into the Cadet Headquarters in Victoria where he was employed as Staff Officer Finance until September of 2001 when he retired from the military for the second time.
He now resides in Salmon Arm BC where he is mostly retired, to the golf course, but was employed at the Vernon Army Summer Training Centre as the Pay Master in 2005.
In 2006 he assumed the duties of the RSM for the Spring Concentration and continued on as the RSM of the VACSTC.
