Frequently Asked Questions

Question

- What's the difference between platoon pictures and corps pictures?

Answer

Platoon photos are training centre or summer camp related, they can be made up of course cadets or support cadres and are typically 30 or so individuals in size. Corps photos are the annual formal corps photos taken at the home units and can vary greatly in size.

Question

- Why was this web site created?

Answer

- Although Army Cadets in Canada have been around for so long, there have been very few books written on the subject and very resources from which anyone could learn from. The most basic of museum exhibits featuring army cadets do exist scattered across the country, but at best they can only serve those cadets and staff fortunate enough to live nearby, Vernon BC and Toronto, Ontario are good examples. The history committee of the Army Cadet League of Canada feels it is long overdue to correct this imbalance. Therefore the website was created. Several individuals have come forth to assist in finding materials stored away in offices, basements and filing cabinets. In time, this site will serve as an online museum and archives for cadets and staff alike all across the country.

Question

- Will the site be available in French?

Answer

The short answer is, hopefully yes. When, depends on two main factors, time and funds. Certain parts already are, for instance some of the bravery medal winners.

Question

- How big will it become?

Answer

As big as you want it to. With nearly 6 million Canadian teenagers having been school cadets or army cadets since 1879, the possibilities are limitless.
