History -   

This Corps was formed in 1946 and designated as 2289 The 5th Area Signal Coy CC. In 1947 it was redesignated as 2289 5th Area Signal Squadron. Affiliation with 3 Area Signals Squadron was authorized in 1957 and the unit became known as 2289 3 Area Signal Sqn CC.  In 1960, sponsorship was assumed by 40th Technical Squadron RCEME and the Corps title changed to 2289 40th Technical Squadron RCEME CC. In 1962, the unit changed sponsors (to 5th (BC) Independent Medium Battery, RCA (M) and was redesignated as 2289 5th (BC) Independent Medium Battery RCA CC.  Following reorganization of the militia in 1965 the corps assumed the title 2289 5th (BC) Field Battery RCA CC.  Effective 1 Sep 91, the 5th once again became a regiment and the Corps became the 2289 5th (BC) Field Artillery Regiment RCA CC  (DCdts adm 177 refers). H.Q. 12-V-56

#1 -- "arty" did not appear in the name, but "BC" did -- the correct abbreviated name was "5th (BC) Ind Med Bty RCA ( M)"
#2 --  "Artillery" did not appear in the name -- the correct name was "2289 -- 5th (BC) Independent Medium Battery RCA Cadet Corps"
#3 --  in 1965 the name did NOT become its present name (see #4 below), it became "2289 -- 5th (BC) Field Battery RCA Cadet Corps"
#4 --  On 01 Sep 1991, the 5th regained Regimental status and the cadet corps became "2289 -- 5th (BC) Field Artillery Regiment RCA Cadet Corps"
