History -   

This Corps was formed in 1948 under the sponsorship and affiliation of South Alberta Regiment RCIC (RF) and was designated as 2313 The Medicine Hat Army (SAR) Cadet Corps. affil.: South Alberta Regt, May 26, 1948. In 1954 the Corps was disbanded and reformed under the sponsorship of 'A' Sqn, The South Alberta Light Horse (29th Armoured Regt) and was redesignated as 2313 Medicine Hat Cadet Corps RCAC. affil.: South Alberta Light Horse, Jan 1, 1955. In 1969 156 Redcliffe Cadet Corps amalgamated with 2313 and the Corps was designated as 2313 Medicine Hat - Redcliffe Cadet Corps. In 1970 the Corps was placed on probation for low cadet attendance and lack of sufficient adult assistance. (Fire destroyed all documents and QM Stores). Effective 16 Jun 75 change of designation to South Alberta Light Horse Cadet Corps. Message D Cdts 37 dated 19 January 1977 states change of support from CFB Calgary to CFB Suffield. Sponsorship changed to Royal Canadian Legion Branches 6 and 17 in 95 (no authorization). Effective 18 Aug 99 change of designation to (Kiwanis South Alberta Light Horse Army Cadet Corps (D Cdts Adm 315).
